Dorian describes himself as a 'Corporate Hippy', equally at home around the boardroom table as the camp-fire. He started Skoosh back in 2001 with the single aim of proving that there is a better way to do business. Once he's done that, you'll find him back in his hammock plotting to change the business world some other way.
Not everyone in Skoosh resides along the white sandy (okay, brown pebbly) beaches of Brighton. Eugene, our lead developer, heads up a team of developers in Rostov-on-Don in Russia. Along with his team he has created what we believe to be the best technology in the travel industry and a cornerstone of Skoosh. With a couple of drinks inside him, Eugene will surprise you with a heart-felt wedding ballad.
Nobody knows how to pronounce his name so we just call him V. He joined our forces in 2012 only to dazzle us with his Czech charm. With a long history in the travel industry this guy knows his stuff. V's faultless attention to detail never fails to keep the business and the team in check, and we don't know where we'd be without him. When he's not being bossy, you'll find him on an epic hike or guzzling beer with Tim and Dorian in the local pub. Cheers to you oh mighty V!
After a year away globe-trotting Lua returned to England determined to pursue a career in furniture-making. But she’s still with us on the all important cake-Tuesdays and she’s also so deep inside the thinking behind SkooshKarma she will always be part of us, cakes or no cakes.
Rock star, squash player, data manager, beer connoisseur: Tim is the quintessential modern renaissance man. If he's not jangling his guitar, supping the latest Transylvanian IPA or thrashing Matt at squash, then he's making sure our hotel data is spick and span, and managing our team of data matchers to boot.
With her roots in the Netherlands & Dubai, we knew we'd have our hands full with this one. Crazy cat lady who likes to flex her culinary muscles when at home, and the world’s greatest party animal when not. She brings laughter to any room she's in and this place just wouldn't feel like home without her. She’s been with us since March 2015 and she puts her heart and soul into the job. Rachael we salute you!
Nyree joined in February 2017 with a wealth of travel industry experience under her belt and brings an air of class to the table - finally. With her dry sense of humour she certainly keeps us all entertained and in her spare time she loves nothing more than traveling, socialising and getting stuck into a good crime series, she’s quite partial to a cheese board too!
Wendy has kept the books at Skoosh as excellently balanced as well as her proud home since she came aboard in September 2015. She’s a bit of a sun chaser, so you'll likely find her relaxing somewhere and on the Mediterranean coast and if you're going to the bar she'll have a Prosecco or 3. Grazie!
Previously working in Theatre, Bex brings with her an equally creative and technical outlook to the team. A keen gamer, festival goer, comedy fan, and recently, her biggest success to date, a very proud Mum to baby Eli. Bex brightens whichever corner she's, a much valued cohort since March 2016.
Hurricane Josie loves bees and cats. She sings, writes, dances badly and has questionable boundaries. After years of being a bumbling travelling teacher, she has finally put her roots back in her home town to come and work with us at Skoosh. In her spare time, you’ll probably find her climbing a mountain or setting her flat on fire with one of her many home cosmetic experiments. She's a bit weird, but at Skoosh we pride ourselves on tolerance and we are delighted to have her.
Nat is the newest addition to our team, she joined us May 2019 and has come all the way from a little town nestled in the High Tatras mountains. Honoured is an understatement. If she's not trailing the world's long distance pilgrimages in her hiking shoes, she'll be binge listening to yet another film soundtrack. She's clever, she's quirky, and a fancy dress fanatic, we think she fits into Skoosh life perfectly.
Dmitry has been with Skoosh in Rostov since early 2012, and has worked on almost all parts of Skoosh since then, specialising in one of the most important parts, hotel information updates. Outside of Skoosh he enjoys exploring mountains with his family and being a DIY expert at home.
Evgeny has been with Skoosh since August 2014 in the Rostov office, doing an excellent job keeping the back parts of Skoosh working like a well-oiled machine. He likes GPS navigation and spends all of his free time walking with family, friends and all of their children in the mountains and forests.
Dima joined Skoosh in March 2015 as a developer, and has already made himself core to the development of the latest version of SkooshKarma, building much of the latest functionality. He works from our Rostov office in Russia, and likes having fun with active sport and programming.
Mum (Feb 1948 - Nov 2009)
Dorian's mum was involved in Skoosh from its inception. She reviewed every concept, every strategy, even every font. She may not be around to see SkooshKarma but she would have loved the idea and we hope it meets her very exacting requirements. God help the duty manager if it doesn't.
Matt traveled down the coast from his native Cornwall to join Skoosh and has navigated the company through so many ups and downs he may as well have become a fisherman. He's unquestionably the most prolific person in social media and replies to anyone and everyone at lightning speed. Outside of Skoosh he might be playing the ukulele, drinking beer or drinking beer (sic).
Tom's rise to the top of Skoosh makes for an amazing story in its own right. Refusing to accept the rejection from his original application he more or less forced his way in and, within four years, he was running the show. He's now away doing his own things elsewhere but still provides valuable assistance and insight.
Sam put her all into the creation of Skoosh. Her talent and spirit is written into the company, in many fonts and languages. When we have room for a wake-boarding circuit in the office, we want Sam back.
Mary-Ellen Fox (1960 - 2014)
Mary-Ellen made light work of the part of the business which always scared the life out of the rest of us - the book-keeping, and made us the fastest payers in the industry at the same time. Her influence in getting us through the tough times was huge. An inspirational mother, she felt like an extra parent to us all in the office and we miss her greatly.
As Industrious and as rare as Oompa Loompa's, Georgi and Milan are the brains behind much of the inner workings of SkooshKarma. No-one knows how they do things, just that everything they touch works brilliantly. Next time you find exactly the right hotel for you, these are the guys to thank.
More than just moral support over the years, of which she offered loads, Nicole taught us what a brand means and how to communicate our values. She is as inspirational as she is talented and not just in the office. If you like salmon and spinach, no-one makes better.
Adrian has contributed more to SkooshKarma than anyone realises, himself included. An English language teacher, he makes sure every comma sits where it should but he also has outstanding abilities to grasp complex business ideas and to assess whether they'll sink or swim. He can be thanked for InstantKarma among many other things.
DecoGrafics - Marius
He is our designer so there's no disguising his brilliance. Anything you come to him with, he'll make better. His tagline "If you can imagine it, we can do it", understates his abilities. When we launch our next version of SkooshKarma you'll see his talents in all his glory.
Al Ries and Laura Ries
This father daughter combo have written some of the most incisive books on marketing and branding. If you're new to the subject, "The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding" is as enjoyable as it is informative. Jack Ries also co-authored our bible, "Positioning, the Battle for your Mind". Sounds scary, but isn't.
